Will seven aldermen have too much work?

Much of Elmhurst’s detailed Council work is already divided among smaller groups. A
seven-member Council would have to organize its work differently and could decide how
best to divide the work, use committees when useful, or address more matters together.

A smaller Council could also reduce duplication. Seven aldermen would have more
responsibility individually, but I stead each needing to be briefed, scheduled, and
coordinated through the process, seven could spend more of their time discussing the
substance of an issue. For more see How a Council of 7 Could Get Things Done.
